Buying a Bed
Choosing the right bed is essential to not only for your health, but also for your quality of life. Getting consistent, quality sleep is directly linked to preventing sickness, lowering stress, improving concentration, and many other benefits. In other words, buying a bed that's right for you goes far beyond choosing between a king bed or a queen bed. But that's a good place to start. For reference, king beds are 76 inches wide and 80 inches long while queen beds measure 60 inches wide and 80 inches long. Your other size options are to choose between a full-size bed and a twin-size bed, at 54 inches wide by 75 inches long or by 39 inches wide by 75 inches long, respectively.
Once you've decided the size of the bed you want, you can begin filtering your options by bed types. Bed types include platform beds, sleigh beds, canopy beds, trundle beds and adjustable beds. A platform bed is a bed with a base; the base is usually a raised horizontal frame that supports the mattress. Some platform beds have drawers in the base for additional storage. Sleigh beds look exactly like you'd think: they resemble a sleigh with a curved headboard and footboard. They are usually heavy and sturdy in stature despite its elegant appearance.
A canopy bed is a four-poster bed with some type of material draped over the top of the pillars. Known for being the bed of choice for royalty, canopy beds are luxurious, private, and can be altered to fit any style by changing up the material. Poster beds are very similar, except without the cloth draped over the top, cascading down the sides. Both canopy and poster beds are stylish options for master bedrooms. Alternatively, trundle beds are a brilliant solution for guest rooms. Trundle beds have two beds in one, with a smaller pull-out bed hidden beneath the main bed.
If you have back problems or happen to be sharing your bed with someone with a different sleeping style, you may want to think about shopping for an adjustable bed. Adjustable beds help with proper lumbar support and many even include massage features!
No matter the type of bed you're shopping for or which features are important to you, you can browse accordingly using the various filters to find just the right one!
